Dibasic lead Stearate, the basic lead scrap of commercial stearic acid, is a versatile combined lubricant and heat stabilizer for PVC.
Dibasic Lead Stearate
Lead Stearate Pb(C17H35COO)2 and Dibasic Lead Stearate, 2PbO, Pb(C17H35COO)2 are basic lead soap of commercial stearic acid. These are versatile combined lubricants and heat stabilizers for PVC. Lead Stearate and Dibasic Lead Stearate have wide application as a lubricant for Plasticised PVC compounds, particularly cable covering.
For rigid PVC applications, it is necessary to use a well-balanced lubricant system.
Application
DBLS has a fairly low refractive index and when used alone in PVC has a low pigmenting value producing a translucent product. It is suitable for both translucent and colored compounds, where a long period heat stability is required.
Cable Covering
Mixtures of Dibasic Lead Stearate with Barium or Cadmium Stearates will act as an efficient stabilizer system for certain applications.
DBLS has wide application as a lubricant for Plasticized PVC’s and Cable coverings.
