Lead Stearate Pb(C₁₇H₃₅COO)₂ and Dibasic Lead Stearate, 2PbO, Pb(C₁₇H₃₅COO)₂ are basic lead soap of commercial stearic acid. These are versatile combined lubricants and heat stabilizers for PVC. Lead Stearate and Dibasic Lead Stearate have wide application as a lubricant for Plasticised PVC compounds, particularly cable covering.

DBLS has a fairly low refractive index and when used alone in PVC has a low pigmenting value producing a translucent product. It is suitable for both translucent and colored compounds, where a long period heat stability is required.

Cable Covering

Mixtures of Dibasic Lead Stearate with Barium or Cadmium Stearates will act as an efficient stabilizer system for certain applications.
